The Sportsman 850 strikes a hard-to-beat balance in performance-refinement-budget. This is a vehicle that Polaris has been tweaking for years and remains among the most capable in the class. This year, Polaris returns with base, Premium and Ultimate Trail series levels.
Always intent on pleasing more and more drivers, the engineers at Polaris took the already impressive Sportsman 850 and went back to the drawing board to give it a complete overhaul. What’s initially striking is the new angular shape of the body, which conveys dynamism and aggressiveness.
The driving position is very comfortable with its foam saddle with two compression zones and the ample space on the running boards which allows easy movement for weight transfers. It doesn’t matter if you’re into long rides or short, fast rides, this ATV gives you the best experience with the smoothest feel possible and plenty of power to have a blast. The smoothness of the 850 78 hp engine and its fuel appetite now under control put a smile on the face of its owner.
The Sportsman 850 is presented this year in standard, Premium or Ultimate Trail versions. The Premium will add a choice of automotive or camo paint, 14-inch alloy wheels, engine braking with active descent control (devilishly effective), luggage rack extensions. The Ultimate Trail version will additionally offer LED lighting, Ultimate front and rear bumpers, a 3500 lb winch with synthetic rope, cut and sewn seat cover, multi-mode power steering and arched suspension arms for give better ground clearance,
WHAT’S UP ?
New colors, a few variations in the equipment added depending on the version, including power steering, which has been removed from the basic 850.
We appreciate :
- The general balance of the Sportsman 850, whose engine has finally acquired a beautiful frugality.
We dislike:
- Power steering is no longer offered with the standard version.
