This ATV is the flagship of Polaris and the levels of equipment offered by the manufacturer demonstrate this fact. Indeed, we see that there is no longer really a base XP 1000. The refinement and richness of the innovations made leave no room for doubt as to Polaris’ intentions: to dominate the segment. However, Can Am’s new Outlander 1000R 2025 may force Polaris to revise its Sportsman XP 1000.
The XP 1000 offers the incredible Prostar 1000/CVT transmission combo which, with its 90 horsepower, propels the quad with disconcerting ease. The power seems to be infinitely available when you whip him, but he knows how to be gentle and docile when you decide to take it easy. The Sportsman XP 1000 is a highly capable vehicle that has been designed to provide its rider with the best trail riding experience, regardless of the pace chosen. It displays all the know-how of Polaris, and this, in a very impressive way. It is very difficult to fault this vehicle.
This year, trim levels have been revamped: The Ultimate Trail trim level includes: first-class paintwork, 27-inch tires, LED headlights and lighting, Ultimate front and rear bumpers, 3500-pound winch with synthetic cable. The Ride and Command Edition adds Ride and Command navigation technology and electronic drive mode selection to the mix.
You can also get a version that caters to the hunters, either the Hunter version that dresses the original quad with everything you will need for this activity, i.e.: camouflage finish, front and rear bumpers, gun case, 3500 lb winch, luggage rack extension, heated handle and thumb, rear work light and LED lighting.
As for the XP 1000 S version, Polaris presents it as a high-performance machine. Its ProSteer steering eliminates kickback in the bar, and its widened track at 54 inches elevates cornering stability to another level.
WHAT’S UP ?
- Version overhaul: Ride and Command edition is cancelled.
We appreciate :
- The considerable comfort offered by the XP1000 in long relays between two destinations.
- The boundless power of the ProStar 1000.
We dislike:
- The absence of a gas suspension available.
- There is no longer an affordable version of the XP1000. This marketing strategy makes sense when you also offer a competent Sportsman 850.
