Polaris turns to large utility UTVs for 2025

Last year saw the unveiling of two top-of-the-range flagship models, the Ranger XD 1500 and XPEDITION. These models mark a major shift in the manufacturer’s desire to establish a presence in large utility vehicles. This year, Polaris renews its emblematic RZR XP 1000, the SxS that pioneered performance-oriented recreational side-by-side vehicles. For the other RZRs, it’s status quo, apart from the former name of the RZR PRO Turbo R, which becomes RZR PRO S this year.

Polaris is an innovative manufacturer always striving to be at the forefront of off-road vehicle development. It’s a manufacturer that offers high-performance machines that are pleasant to use and generally renowned for their comfort. Polaris broke the mold of the one-liter engine by introducing the RZR PRO R, which is a monster with a 225 HP, 2.0-liter engine, with no turbocharging! The manufacturer also democratized RideCommand technology, repositioned some models in the range and eliminated others.

The Ranger XD 1500 is the strongest, most powerful workhorse on the market. Its engine is a 1500 cm3 ProStar (look at that, the one-liter engine standard has been abandoned again) with 110 horsepower and, above all, 105 lb-ft of torque. It’s coupled with a new liquid-cooled steel-belt transmission that pushes the performance envelope even further. Cargo capacity is 1500 lbs and towing capacity 3500 lbs. The range of vehicles with heated or air-conditioned interiors continues with the NorthStar versions with insulated and air-conditioned cabs, and is extended to the entire Ranger range.

The XPEDITION is a new range that propels UTVs to an unrivalled level of comfort and performance for discovering the wilds of the backcountry. The XPEDITION features a roof and tailgate that cover the rear bed. With its level of comfort and configuration, it’s almost like an SUV.

In 2025, it’s quiet in the popular General’s line-up.

Polaris will continue to offer a full range of Sportsman and Scrambler ATVs in 2025. The very popular Sportsman 570 receives RideCommand technology. For work and utility needs, the Sportsman 570 6×6 and the Sportsman X2 get a healthy makeover. The Sportman XP 1000s are positioned in the premium segment, while the excellent generalist Sportman 850 fills the affordable performance niche.

The Scrambler XP 1000 S and Sportman XP 1000 S continue with the 55-inch track formula and other major revisions to mechanical components.
