One time or another, we have to transport our recreational vehicles using a trailer. Whether it is to access new trails in another region or to visit our favorite dealership for maintenance, hauling our machines must be done in a simple and safe way.
The purchase of a trailer is also an investment in itself, just like the purchase of a snowmobile or ATV. This being said, the trailer also requires precautions and maintenance in order to provide extended life. The floor materials are usually made of wood and these panels quickly show premature wear when a snowmobile or ATV is being transported repeatedly. The wear and tear of the floor panels mean their periodic replacement when the deterioration is too obvious and this means additional and unforeseen costs.

SUPER TRACTION GRID
Super Traction Grids’ strategic grid pattern offers incredible traction for all snowmobile tracks, as well as ATV, UTV, and off-road motorcycle tires. Built with the brand’s know-how and focus on safety, Super Traction grids are an essential addition to a sled deck or trailer.
These grids are made of a very durable composite material, even at extremely cold temperatures, and offer unparalleled traction. Especially during an ascent on a ramp in winter, adhesion could be reduced and these grids come to counteract this inconvenience. Just as they do for our recreational vehicles, they also increase our safety by providing good traction of our snow-covered boots, thus reducing the possibility of slipping while walking on ramp doors or trailer decks.
Their installation may be adapted to your specific use. They can be installed in the center alley of the trailer floor to improve the traction of a snowmobile track, or on both sides of the trailer in the tire tracks of an ATV or UTV to improve tire traction.
Installation:
For our use and for the configuration of our cargo trailer, we decided to install these traction grids in the center of the deck floor and the ramp. These grids have a dimension of 8.25 ” X 29.5 ” (21 cm X 75 cm) and we fixed them by ensuring to leave a gap of 1/4 inch (6 millimeters) between them to allow expansion. Among the supplied hardware, we notice the screws equipped with eyelets allowing dilatation when fixed to the oblong holes of the grids. This will also prevent the deformation of the Super Traction Grids during changes in temperature.
We decided that it was not necessary to cover the entire portion of the floor up to the front of the trailer, as the area used by our snowmobile tracks is usually limited to the mid-portion of the floor.
Each box contains 4 grids and we needed 4 boxes to complete our installation. These grids are so versatile that it is possible to proceed to any desired configuration. A cut-out can also easily be made for a perfect fit depending on your trailer configuration.
SUPER-GLIDES II WIDE:
Snowmobile carbide ski runners are the number one enemy of trailer floors due to their ability to create cracks and permanent damage. Studded tires are also a major concern when it is time to take care of our trailer floors. Never mind, Superclamp offers composite protectors that ensure the protection of the trailer floors while loading or unloading a snowmobile or an ATV.
These protectors are available in 2 widths according to the budgets or the required use. The Superglides II Pro has a width of 8 1/2 ” (21 cm) and the model we decided to use, the Superglides II Wide, has a width of 13 1/2 ” (34 cm). The choice of one or another is really a question of preference. When installing on a dual snowmobile trailer, the narrower version is preferable. However, for universal use, and in our case, as we have the possibility to carry several vehicles in different configurations, we particularly appreciate the wide version.
Icy or snow-covered surfaces are no longer a problem, as these panels, in addition to providing easier sled glides, increase the traction of ATV tires and of our boots, preventing dangerous slip.
Installation:
All the necessary hardware is provided in each box. A box contains 8 panels of 29.5 ” (75 cm) long. We took care to use Edge trim rails to secure them and to get a neater encapsulated finish. Panels must be previously slipped into these rails before proceeding with the installation. Like other Superclamp products, Super-glide panels are pre-drilled with oblong holes to allow expansion during temperature changes. The fastening screws are also equipped with eyelets to facilitate the expansion. Finally, to ensure this possible distension, we took care to leave a gap of 1/4 ” (6 mm) between each panel to avoid their deformation.
