This vehicle is actually a Kymco UXV 450i, which has been rolling in the woods for quite a while now, notably under the name Prowler 500 in the Arctic Cat lineup. Before turning this page of the guide, know that the Magnum XF 500 is not deprived of advantages for the asking price. This more compact model will allow you to explore narrower trails than aboard a full-size UTV, plus it can be transported in a full-size pickup truck bed.
While affordable, the Magnum XF doesn’t exclude crucial features to keep the price down. Everything you would expect from an ideal Argo land conqueror remains. On-the-fly 2WD / 4WD modes and a locking front differential are controlled by an easy-to-use rocker switch located on the instrument panel. The engine is a 443 cc single-cylinder injection engine that delivers 33 horsepower. Yes, it is pretty modest to move a 1,100 lb bodywork. Even so, the vehicle does well at low speeds but quickly runs out of steam when you increase the pace. Also included is a durable CVT transmission with an engine braking system and four-wheel independent suspension that guarantees a good ground clearance of 10 inches.
This year, Argo is offering a version designed for work, the PRO 500 XTX. It is equipped with power steering, front and rear bumpers, a 3000-pound winch and automotive-style paint on the body.
It drives like a charm without EPS, and its adjustable steering wheel lets you steer the vehicle effortlessly. However, if power steering is imperative for you, it comes on board the LE version. The cargo box carries 226.7 kg (500 lbs) and is easy to tip with a conveniently placed lever. All of this and the fact that it also comes with a sturdy 2-inch hitch receiver opens up many possibilities to transform this fun and capable trail explorer into a vehicle that can help you perform many tasks without a problem.
The Magnum XF500 is available in base and LE versions. The latter offers aluminum rims with Duro tires, a 3000-pound winch, and painted body panels.
