2025 Yamaha Wolverine RMAX 2 1000

The Wolverine RMAX is arousing huge interest among ATV drivers: enhanced performance, competent behavior, quality design and Yamaha’s proverbial reliability. With this recipe, Yamaha has entered the Crossover SxS market, which was previously occupied by the Polaris General. This year, Yamaha is revising this model and offering a new four-passenger version with a separate dump bed. Last year’s four-passenger model with seats integrated into the cargo area is now called the RMAX 4 Compact. Several other technical upgrades have been incorporated into the vehicle.

The bodywork of the RMAX has a deliberate design that projects an image of robustness. The grille incorporates the headlights, which are on two levels. Distinctive in the world of VCCs! When you take a look inside the cabin, you can see that it is much closer to a car with the console that comes down from the dashboard and separates the two front seats. The switches, indicator dials and auxiliary screen are positioned like in a car. The dimensions increase, the width passing from 62 to 64 inches outside the wheels, and the wet weight (full of all liquids taken into account) increases to 1050 kg for the big, stretched-out RMAX4! It’s starting to be a big boy.

On the engine side, there is a parallel twin-cylinder engine with a displacement of 999 cm3. It develops 108 horsepower. Yamaha has equipped the RMAX with an electronic device that controls the power in three modes: Trail Mode, which gives smooth, linear acceleration and strong engine braking. Sport Mode provides sharp acceleration and quick throttle response with less intrusive engine braking. Finally, Crawl Mode ensures smooth acceleration, moderate throttle response and maximum engine braking. Also, this year, the RMAX has been improved with the addition of power steering with three levels of sensitivity and, finally, a rear differential that can be unlocked in Turf mode to save your lawn.

The RMAX 2 and RMAX 4 have double wishbone suspension at all four corners and FOX IQS gas shock absorbers for the LE and FOX QS3 for the others to control the movement of the 14-inch aluminum wheels covering 30-inch diameter GBC Dirt Commanders. The suspension travel is 14.2 inches at the front and 16.9 inches at the rear. The width is 64 inches and the suspensions are frankly more efficient.

The Wolverine RMAX 1000 is available in different trim levels for 2 or 4 seats. For two seats: R-Spec, SE, Sport and LE. For four seats Compact: R-Spec, SE, LE and for the new 4-seater with separate dump bed: SE and LE.

The LE version brings a nice technological addition this year. First of all, note the addition of a 7-inch color touchscreen central display through which the new Adventure Pro system is controlled. This system displays navigation data and vehicle operation, the MTX audio system controls and the image from the reversing camera.

WHAT’S NEW?

  • New version of the RMAX 4 with separate dump box.
  • Major technological upgrade.
  • New colors.

We like:

  • The promise of a muscular level of performance delivered in the body of a comfortable touring vehicle. The Wolverine 1000 takes on the role of a crossover and shamelessly rides on the heels of the Polaris General.
  • The addition of a separate-dumper version.

We like less:

  • The price range that makes this interesting vehicle less accessible.
