The RZR XP 1000 is powered exclusively by a naturally-aspirated engine. Turbocharged performance is now exclusive to the RZR Pro and Pro S. Despite its lack of a turbine, the RZR XP 1000 is a highly competent vehicle that performs admirably in all circumstances.
In fact, the RZR XP 1000 is the entry-level multi-terrain performance ATV that underwent a major redesign last year. However, you don’t need a cavalry of raging horses to simply enjoy the great outdoors. The second-generation Prostar 1000 engine is a fine performer that breathes easily at all revs. Well supported by an efficient CVT transmission, its 114 horsepower are always present. The much stiffer chassis helps maintain better control of the vehicle, thanks to more precise steering and a better-calibrated suspension. The standard suspension is fitted with Walker Evans 2.5 gas-charged shock absorbers with 16-way adjustment. Finally, the vehicle’s improved rigidity limits vibrations in the cabin.
Thanks to the wrap-around seats and abundant cabin space, life is pleasant on board. Last year, the instrument panel was refreshed with two analog dials framing a 4-inch LED screen. In the more equipped versions, you’ll also find a large 7-inch color LCD screen in the center of the dashboard for GPS navigation and the rearview camera.
The RZR XP 1000 isn’t a very high-performance machine, and when you get right down to it, very few need it. The RZR XP 1000 has very sound trail handling and will get you where you want to go at speeds that border on the indecent if you let yourself get carried away.
The RZR 1000 XP is also available in two- and four-passenger versions and in three equipment levels: Sport, Premium and Ultimate. The Sport version comes standard with power steering, full doors, front bumper and underbody skid plates, and LED headlights.
The Premium version adds to the Sport version a 7-inch RIDE COMMAND screen and 30-inch tires on 14-inch aluminum wheels. The Ultimate version adds a roof, rearview camera, Rockford Fosgate Stage 3 audio system and 4,500 lb winch to the Premium version.
