The Alterra 600 is a model that was introduced two years ago by Arctic Cat. The implementation work was completed last year with the introduction of the two-seater TRV version and the deep mud specialist Mud Pro.
Strategically, Arctic Cat has decided to relaunch with a model that targets the core of the mid-engine market from scratch.
The Alterra’s new 600cc engine is a single-cylinder with electronic fuel injection. It develops 45 horsepower, which is in the upper category average. Power is transmitted to the wheels via a Duramatic constant CVT-type automatic transmission. The powertrain is bolted into an all-new chassis to which is attached an independent four-wheel suspension
The ATV is equipped with an on-the-fly electrically selectable 4×4 system by a switch on the handlebars, allowing the differential to be locked for maximum traction.
Arctic Cat ensures that the vehicle’s design has been focused on performance and operator comfort. For example, the exhaust system was developed by passing it through the underside of the chassis. In addition to reducing noise, this helps keep heat away from the driver. Power steering is also standard on all models. The dashboard is ready to receive a Garmin GPS intended for the Alterra.
Arctic Cat wants its new vehicle to enter the market and presents the one seater version in five versions:
Alterra 600 EPS: Entry-level version with power steering.
Alterra 600 EPS XT: Adds the aluminum wheels and the front bumper as equipment.
Alterra 600 EPS LTD: Comes with 14-inch aluminum wheels, 27-inch tires, composite plastic racks, luggage rack extensions, and a 3,500 lb Warn winch.
Alterra 600 Black Hills Edition: Similar to SE, comes with 14-inch aluminum wheels, 28-inch tires, new lockable differential. Unlike the Wildcat XX, the Garmin Tread GPS is sold separately.
Alterra 600 TRV
Arctic Cat introduces a TRV two-seater version with its Alterra 600. The chassis is extended to allow the passenger to sit in front of the axle. Although we didn’t get to see it up close, Arctic Cat TRVs have always been roomy and comfortable. We think this one will follow the same tangent. The staffing of the different versions follows the same logic as that of the Alterra 600, namely:

Alterra 600 TRV LTD: Comes with 14 inch aluminum wheels, 26 inch tires, composite plastic racks and a 3500 lb Warn winch.
Alterra 600 Mud Pro
Arctic Cat, it will be remembered, was the first to introduce a specialized ATV for mud, the Mud Pro 700. The manufacturer is therefore returning to the niche by presenting a Mud Pro based on the new Alterra. Fitted with 28-inch Maxxis Zilla tires, it is easily recognizable with its radiator relocated to the front rack, its snorkel. In order to advance further, the front differential is lockable on demand and the transmission ratio is reduced by 14% to provide more torque.
