When we talk about Yamaha, we are talking about technical know-how that shines in all areas of the quad world: touring, hard work, and pure sport. But above all, Yamaha enjoys a reputation for reliability that is not overrated.
On the ATV side, the manufacturer offers its Grizzly and Kodiak 700 and 450. Even the Kodiak 450 got a more upscale SE version and may add a locking front differential. Not all Japanese manufacturers give the same attention to their entry-level quads.
Yamaha is true to its roots on the sport quad side and is the only manufacturer to offer a large displacement sport quad. The Raptor 700R is available in SE trim, and the competition-focused YFZ450R is also back in 2025, Yamaha assures us.
Yamaha has made a big impression with the very interesting Wolverine RMAX4 1000, which now offers a full-size cabin for four passengers and a separate dump body. The Wolverine has also undergone a mechanical upgrade. The old version of the RMAX4 is still available and is now the RMAX4 Compact. The level of performance of its suspension and mechanics, as well as its dimensions, place it directly in competition with the Polaris General and the new Can-Am Commander.
Yamaha still offers the Wolverine X2 850 and X4 850. This recreational vehicle has two or four seats and its 847cc two-cylinder engine is so quiet you’ll forget you started it. That’s not to mention the superb power steering, locking differential, and self-leveling rear suspension that instantly adjusts based on the extra weight of the rear passengers or cargo. To spice things up, Yamaha has grafted the RMAX’s beefy engine into the two-seater version of the Wolverine. This engine changes the personality of the vehicle.
Yamaha’s Viking UTV returns with its 686cc single-cylinder engine to take care of the jobs. You can opt for the standard three-seater model or the Viking VI, which comfortably seats six passengers.
Finally, Yamaha still offers its high-performance machine, the YXZ1000R, equipped with a 998cc three-cylinder engine and a 5-speed sequential manual gearbox. You also have the choice between a manual or automatic clutch. With its massive FOX 2.5 Podium shocks and panache, the YXZ1000R impresses.
