Over the past few years, CFMOTO has become a mature manufacturer, both in its designs and in the execution of its models. Now, the Chinese manufacturer is tackling the world of high performance with its new ZFORCE Z10, which is not lacking in arguments.
Visually, the Z10 bears no resemblance to the other ZFORCE models in the family. The black V-shaped grille is unique to this model, and the slim LED headlamps emphasize a certain dynamism. The bumper surmounts the front protective shield, which rises to the top of the tires. Singular, but it allows the winch to be placed higher up. From the side, the fenders are very high, suggesting long suspension travel and, above all, good performance potential. The Z10 is also 64 inches wide. The vehicle is available as a 2-seater or 4-seater.
The ZFORCE is powered by a 998 cm3, three-cylinder, turbocharged engine delivering 143 horsepower and 100 lb-ft of torque. It’s mated to an OmniDrive CVT transmission, which has high and low range, works with two and four-wheel drive and an electronic locking differential. It has been calibrated for quick engagement and better acceleration. The suspension is not to be outdone. It features double wishbones at the front and Quadlink Gen 2 longitudinal arms at the rear. All four wheels are equipped with FOX QSE gas-charged shock absorbers with separate rebound and compression adjuster. Front and rear wheel travel is 17.9 and 20.0 inches respectively. Thanks to its low center of gravity, the vehicle is well planted on its wheels and swallows the curves of the trail convincingly with a good level of comfort. Power steering is standard, with variable levels of action.
The interior is pleasantly spacious, with comfortable seats. The quality of finish is good, and the layout is sporty. The instrumentation stands out with its color LCD screens: a slim, elongated one in front of the driver and a larger 12.3-inch one in the center of the dashboard. Bluetooth connectivity is advanced, and you can even connect your phone via Apple Carplay.
As always with CFMOTO, standard equipment is generous: front bumper, 4500 lb winch with remote control, Bluetooth and Apple Carplay connectivity, side mirrors, FOX QSE gas suspension, rearview camera, not to mention turn signals, hazard lights and a horn that are more practical than you’d expect on the track.
WHAT’S NEW?
New model
We like:
- CFMOTO’s boldness in presenting this model, which brings a new player to high-performance vehicles.
We like less:
- The four-passenger Z10-4’s net weight of 956 kg is heavy and flirts with the legal limit in some jurisdictions.
